What actually decides an over-the-door hoop
Three things, and none of them is the graphics. First, board width: a 28-inch board gives you a bank shot, an 18-inch board gives you a target. Second, whether the rim breaks away: a rigid mini rim transfers every dunk straight into the top rail of the door, and that is how doors get racked. Third, bracket thickness, because the bracket lives in the gap between the door and the stop and a thick one stops the door latching.

Check the door closes with the bracket on it
Hang the bracket, then close the door before you tighten anything. If it will not latch, the hoop is going on a different door. This is the most common return reason in the category and it takes thirty seconds to avoid.
Buy the width, not the logo
Between two minis at the same price, take the wider board every time. It is the only spec that changes how the game plays.
Keep the mini ball, lose the real one
