Rubber vs composite on concrete
Concrete and asphalt sand a ball's cover every time it bounces. Rubber covers (Spalding Street and Phantom, Mikasa BX1000, Wilson DRV) are made for it: the pebbling wears slowly, the channels stay deep, and the ball keeps its grip for seasons.
