Mike M. is the hands-on owner behind Iron Mako Media, the publisher of Rim & Rebound. He writes as a homeowner working through the same driveway questions you have: which hoop fits the slab, what the install manual really asks for, and what to add so the kids keep playing. Every spec links to its source, and he says plainly when a figure can't be verified.

How Mike ranks hoops and gear

Every page on Rim & Rebound carries the line “units we claim to have tested: 0.” That means Mike reads the maker's published backboard, pole, overhang and adjustment specs; opens the install manual and quotes the hole size, bag count and cure time; reads the warranty page or the warranty printed in the manual and quotes the term with the date; notes the failure patterns owners report (base cracking, two-piece pole shake, ground-line rust) as reported, never as confirmed; and scores each pick on the public rubric at the methodology page. It does not mean he has dug the hole, mixed the bags or stood the pole up, and no page on this site says otherwise.

If a page ever describes something Mike has done with a specific hoop, it will say exactly what was done and when. Until then, “sourced” is the honest label, and the trade for it is that every figure on the site links to where it came from.

• A coaching title, a playing history or an engineering credential. None was provided and none is claimed.
• A photo of a hoop Mike installed, presented as evidence. Every image on the site is licensed stock and labeled as such.
• Amazon prices, star ratings or review counts.
• A quote from an owner review reproduced as our finding.

Corrections

If a spec, a bag count or a warranty term on this site is wrong, or a maker has changed it, email mike@blackironathletics.com or use the contact form.
