Best basketball hoops for toddlers: how low the rim goes decides it

The only number that matters is the minimum height

A two-year-old is about 34 inches tall. To score, the rim needs to be somewhere a child that size can throw a ball into, which in practice means 30 to 48 inches off the floor. Almost no basketball hoop goes that low. The cheapest full-size portables start at 7.5 feet. Even the dedicated youth hoops start at 5.5 feet, which is nearly twice a toddler's height. It also means you should expect to buy twice. A hoop that reaches a toddler cannot reach a 7-year-old, and a hoop that reaches a 7-year-old is useless at two.
